Why divisions matter
Divisions group shooters with comparable equipment so results are meaningful. A shooter using an optic-equipped duty platform is not in the same band as a shooter running a small backup pistol from deep concealment.
Core EDCC divisions
- DUTY — Duty. Service-grade pistols and duty holsters.
- DUTY-O — Duty Optic. Duty configuration with an approved optic.
- EDC — Everyday Carry. Carry-grade pistols and carry holsters.
- EDC-O — Everyday Carry Optic. EDC configuration with an approved optic.
- BUG — Backup Gun. Compact backup pistols.
- BUG-O — Backup Gun Optic. BUG configuration with an approved optic.
- REV — Revolver.
- PCC — Pistol Caliber Carbine.
How division rules are written
Each division specifies the equipment band: pistol size, holster type, magazine count, optic eligibility and any concealment requirement. Detailed division specifications are in the EDCC Shooter's Manual.
Classification by division
Classification is per-division. A shooter can be classified at different tiers across different divisions because the equipment band changes the achievable performance ceiling. See EDCC classification system.
